For most a closed gate is locked. “See!” The pessimist will yell at the bewildered. “The gate is closed so it’s obviously locked.”
This is not mindset or language of the innovators. A closed gate doesn’t mean it’s locked. Even if the gate is locked it’s only for the time being. The ardent adventurer will go over the gate.
A locked gate is a speedbump to those who have created something meaningful.
We are more limited by our beliefs of limitation than true limiting factors. Most of us will face adversity to varying degree. There will be times when we are not at fault for our situation. But if we recuse ourselves from excuses we will find a variety of perceived gates unlocked. When we take accountability for our situation the world will appear intrinsically open.
Taking accountability is just the beginning. You can have all the IQ in the world, all the skillsets needed and all the charisma but if you have no reason to open the gate you’ll never will.
Without enough reasons the gate will always appear locked.
Because you perceive gates for what you think they are to be, limitations to yourself and limitations of your ability. The gate will remain closed. Regardless of whether it is locked or unlocked. The gate to those who believe it locked will remain locked. This is obvious to those who have passed through the gate. We walked through because we had a reason, a purpose, to do so. Without enough reasons the gate will always appear locked.
It’s easy to think the gate is locked but it’s just as easy to think the gate is unlocked.
The gate itself is unremarkable. What is remarkable is what one person does with the gate compared to another. If the gate is locked it’s locked for the sad and happy, the rich and the poor. You can say “well, the rich often get the key to the gate.” but that doesn’t change what you’ll do with the gate.
Someone owns a car and you own a bike. Is that reason enough to not go to the movies? Instead of building a reason TO open the gate you’re building reasons not to. It’s easy to always think the gate is locked but it’s just as easy to think the gate is unlocked.
